Max Mahaffey’s practice is motivated by an interest in spatial intervention and its cultural value: how works are conceived and produced; how meaning is developed, communicated, and derived; how to operate as creator, critic, and perceiver interchangeably. The work negotiates disciplinary boundaries through investigations into spatial presence, typological and historical references, and material quality.
